Happy Mother's Day!

Today I ran in the Mother's Day Classic and am happy to report that the event drew more than 65,000 participants walking or running for breast cancer research across Australia. With over $800 000.00 raised, the event was truly successful! The crowd and energy was amazing and it was great to see so many faces out. I ran the race (with very sore calves...thanks Body Attack) in less than 43 minutes (ranking 985 out of 3845)which was fairly good for me, although, that time has nothing on the guy that came in first place, finishing in 26 minutes!!

I just wanted to give a shout out to everyone for their support, and a special thanks to Katy for showing up to cheer me on, even if I didn't get to see her!

Katy said...: I am truly proud of you my dear. Good for you for being apart of that extremely large number and increasing the awarness of breast cancer.... I can't believe how well you placed... that is unbelievable! I think some of the walkers would have beat me!

The voice of a child...

We were practicing what numbers come before and after for numbers up to 100. The students were finding it really easy so i put the number 237 on the board (they had not learned numbers up to 200 yet). When I asked them what number came after a little boy in the back named Kobe (age 6) gasped and said "holy smokes, i think i'm gonna puke!"
"When you look at the clock it goes real slow, but i love it when it goes slow, but then when the day is done, its ok because you always have tomorrow" - Ethan age 6 (talking about clock watching and how much he loves school)
"Ms Forrest, when you are 100 years old, are you still alive?" - Kobe, age 6
"Ms. Forrest, if I drink 1000 cups of coffee in one day will I die?" - Luke, age 9
"Ms. Forrest you see that line that goes all the way around (a child talking about the eqautor while we were looking at the globe), yeah well, it is SOOOO HOT that if you touch it it will burn you.
As I told students to put collected items from outside in their pockets (plastic covers) one student looked up at me nervously..."Ms. Forrest, I don't think my sticks will fit in my pocket". To my suprise I looked down to see him trying to shove long twigs in his sweatpants!
A student came rushing up to me outside in a frantic hurry...as I bent down to see if he was ok he said "Excuse me Ms. Forrest...but I've got a really awesome toy at home!"
Me: What month comes after December? Kindergarden Students: Santa Clause
Me: Don't put juice in the sand box...what do you think will happen if you keep putting your juice in there? Child: (Small pause and glance at sandbox) A juice tree will grow?!
"Ms. Forrest, you totally sound Australian, jeeze, you have only been there for 7 months and already you say Austraaaaalia"
Me: What are you playing? Child: Burney Butts, you have to see who can sit on the hot rubber tires the longest without getting off!
"In Australia do they all say "G'Day Mate" "-Michael
"Ms. Forrest, did you get enough sleep last night because you don't look good around your eyes"
"What? It's a syrup sandwich...it's tasty"
"Are you Lindsay Lohan?"
"It's the type of island where you can just leave your Mum"-A year one student talking about the Polynesian Islands
"Ms. Forrest look at the 80s moustache I painted on my self-portrait...that's just wrong"
"Ms. Forrest, what do you call Christmas in Canada?"
"Ms. Forrest, how do you spell playstation 2? I couldn't find it in the dictionary"
"Ms. Forrest, How do you spell Michael in Canada"
